APC Diaspora Chairmen promises to support 10th Assembly to achieve success

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (CDC) has promised to support the Sen. Godswill Akpabio-led 10th National Assembly to achieve success in all areas to move the country forward.
Mr Tunde Doherty, Chairman of the APC CDC made the promise in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
He congratulated lawmakers of the 10th National Assembly for electing Akpabio, and Tajudeen Abass, as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Doherty described both leaders as the right men with proven track records for the office.
Akpabio, a former two-term governor of Akwa Ibom who was declared the winner of the election by Clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal, polled 63 votes to defeat a former Governor of Zamfara, Abdulazeez Yari, who got 46 votes.
Abass, on the other hand, got 352 votes to beat Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase and former Chairman House Committee on Intelligence and Internal Security.
The APC CDC Chairman said the results of the Tuesday’s polls spoke volumes, adding that Akpabio and Abbas had demonstrated an unwavering dedication to public service.
This, he said, they did throughout their careers which earned them the prestigious opportunity to steer the affairs of the 10th National Assembly and the country.
“This momentous achievement highlights their exceptional leadership qualities and the trust bestowed upon them by their fellow senators and the Nigerian people.
“The Committee of Diaspora Chairmen and CDC are honoured to witness their ascent to these pivotal positions within Nigeria’s political landscape.
“With their wealth of experience and profound commitment to national progress, we have full confidence in their ability to lead with integrity, transparency, and a strong focus on the welfare of Nigeria and its citizens.
“We extend our warmest wishes for a fruitful and successful term in office,” Doherty said.
He expressed optimism that Akpabio and Abbas would demonstrate wisdom in their decision making with unwavering compassion in serving Nigerians.
He assured that the CDC would collaborate with Akpabio and Abbas, and their colleagues in any capacity required.
“Together, we aim to uplift our nation and harness the immense potential of our Diaspora community.
“We congratulate Akpabio and Abbas on their well deserved election, we eagerly anticipate witnessing the positive impact of their leadership as Nigeria forges ahead on the path to a brighter future.”Doherty said.
