The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, has led top members of the council on a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
According to a statement from Yari’s media office made available to newsmen in Abuja, the visit was to seek royal blessings for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The statement said the visits were aimed at deepening ties with traditional institutions, promoting mutual understanding and seeking royal leaders’ prayers, blessings and guidance as the council continued its nationwide consultations.
The statement quoted Yari as saying that the delegation was not seeking political endorsement or mobilisation support, but rather, the prayers and blessings of the royal fathers
He underscored the moral and spiritual anchorage traditional rulers provide in the nation’s political process.
The statement said the delegation first paid a visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari in Kwara before proceeding to Ile-Ife in Osun where it paid homage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
At the Ilorin palace, Yari reaffirmed confidence in the party’s strong footing in the state.
He listed progress recorded by the APC-led administration since 2019 to include the resolution of past challenges in education, healthcare delivery and the establishment of new hospitals, and far-reaching reforms.
He expressed optimism about consolidating the party’s dominance in Kwara which he estimated at 70 per cent against the opposition’s 30 per cent.
He noted that the campaign would leverage Kwara’s projected strength, alongside its Governor’s role as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum(PGF), to extend its influence nationally.
He added that the royal visits marked the formal commencement of a nationwide consultative tour to traditional and political leaders across the country.
He said it also marked the building of consensus and gathering blessings ahead of key campaign activities ahead of the presidential election fixed for Jan. 16, 2027.
Yari said the consultative visits underscored the council’s recognition of the pivotal role traditional rulers played in promoting peace, unity and stability across the country.
