The Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with stakeholders to empower 100,000 youths through a National Youth Agricultural Scheme.
Mrs Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations in the ministry, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the stakeholders involved are Gov. Mohammed Bago of Niger, the Chairman of Niger Foods, Mr Sammy Adigun, and Mr Cornelius Adebayo, the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
Olawande commended Bago for his efforts in ensuring a stable food supply in Nigeria, job creation and youth empowerment.
He emphasised that the tripartite agreement would strengthen collaboration, noting that it reflected the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in ensuring food security and job creation for Nigerian youths.
Adigun in the statement, said the goal of the partnership was to produce half a million tons of food, with each youth earning N150,000 in the first year, and the potential to earn millions over the next four to five years.
Adebayo described Niger as a leading example in agricultural development, making it an ideal location to initiate the partnership for youth development.
The Niger governor welcomed the collaboration between NALDA and the ministry, describing it as a landmark achievement.
He expressed optimism that the agreement would meet its objectives, highlighting the potential of Nigerian youths to excel with minimal support.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
