Forgery: Court orders police to produce Ahmed Saba, APC rep candidate
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Apo, has asked the police to arrest and produce Ahmed Saba on March 27 in court in a case of forgery, CR/97/2022, filed against him by the Inspector-General-of police.
Saba, a House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency in Kwara state was arrested and charged for certificate forgery.
He was however granted bail with a surety.
When the case came up for hearing on February 14, Saba and his surety were absent in the court.
The Prosecutor Council, Justice A.O Otaluka told Francis Gabriel, counsel to Saba to ensure that him and his surety were present on March 27 when the matter comes up for hearing.
Gabriel had told the court that the politician had been on the run since he was granted bail.
According to him, the APC House of Representatives candidate had been neck deep in series of alleged criminal offences which necessitated police investigation.
He said the police after investigation found out that Saba was involved in certificate forgery as his claims of graduating from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria was false.
“While the investigation was going on, Saba escaped from police custody and was re-arrested and granted administrative bail.
“The authorities of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, in their letter of reply to enquires made by the police.
“Stated that although Ahmed Saba was at one point a student of the University, he never graduated due to carry-over which he was unable to remedy even after a second attempt.
“The institution also denied ever clearing him for participation in the NYSC scheme, as he never graduated from the university,” he said (https://newsatlarge.ng)
