Edo: APC US Youth Leader attributes Okpebholo’s victory to integrity, commitment
Mr Oyakhilome Bello, the All Progressives Congress (APC) USA National Youth Leader has attributed the electoral victory of Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Edo governor-elect to his integrity and commitment to the people’s welfare.
Bello who spoke with the newsmen on Monday in Abuja said Okpebholo’s dedication to advance the course of the people of the state, even as a senator, earned him their trust and confidence.
“This victory demonstrates the people’s faith in the APC’s ideology and Okpebholo’s ability to deliver on his campaign promises,” he said.
Bello who is also a member of the Diaspora Directorate of Edo Governorship Campaign Council, noted that as a Senator, Okpebholo prepared to assume office as the state governor.
“The APC is proud to have supported his candidacy and look forward to seeing the positive impact of his leadership,” he said.
He congratulated the governor-elect and Dennis Idahossa his deputy, saying their victory was a testament to their unwavering commitment to the people of Edo and their vision for a brighter future.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election and applauded the people for exercising their civic duty and choosing capable leadership.
Bello wished Okpebholo wisdom, strength, and vision to steer Edo towards growth, development, and prosperity in the interest of its people.
He also prayed that his tenure be marked by transformative initiatives, inclusive governance, and selfless service to the people of the state and Nigeria generally.
According to INEC, Okpebholo, 54, secured 291,667 votes to defeat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 247,274 votes at the election.
Mr Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) came a distant third in the race with 22,361 votes. Fourteen other candidates contested the election with the three frontline candidates.
