Coalition urges governors to emulate Okpebholo’s achievements in 100
The Coalition For Good Governance and Economic Development, has urged state governors to emulate the achievements of Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo in his 100 days in office.
Mr John Mayarki, the coalition’s National Convener said this on Wednesday in Abuja at colloquium on tracking the governor’s achievements since he assumed office.
Highlighting the developmental strides and achievements of the Okphegbolo-led administration, Mayarki said the governor had done so well for the people of the state.
He urged the governor to continue his good works for Edo people, saying he should remain focused and work towards increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
This, he said, was critical to bringing democratic dividends and development to the state.
Speaking at the event, Mr Oscar Aghedo, Chairman, All Progressives Congress (l (APC), Ovia North-East, expressed delight at Okpeboholo’s developmental drive.
Aghedo who represented Edo Deputy Governor at the event, said he was happy to associate with the coalition, adding that with Okpebholo, Edo would become the envy of other states.
He reiterated the need for Edo people to join hands and support the APC-led administration to achieve its objective of bringing good governance to the state.
He said the state government should sustain the current tempo as it was already doing so well for the people of Edo.
He added that with boldness and determination, every state government could improve its IGR, adding that states should be allowed to focus on their areas of comparative advantage.
Mr Fredrick Akpeji, one of Edo political stakeholders at the event, stressed the need for political office holders to deliver on their campaign promises to guarantee their second terms in office.
Other stakeholders while speaking, advised Okpebholo’s media team to stop attacking the opposition, saying they should help the governor concentrate on governance of the state.
Some of the guests at the event, noted that it had never been this good, that a governor within 100 days in office could achieve so much.
They charged the state’s political stakeholders to stop lamenting on the past, but to go and strategise for the next election.
The Okpegbolo had during his governorship campaigns promised making Edo great through economic and social development.(https://newsatlarge ng)
