Coalition charges envoys, Nigerians to remain loyal, committed to the country
Coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) Political Support Groups for President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerains from all walks of life to remain loyal and committed to the country in spite of situations.
Hajia Rabi Dangizo,Director-General, Progressives Arewa People Support for Asiwaju and Shettima made the call at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.
She spoke on behalf of the support groups, saying the news conference was to register the group’s dismay and outright displeasure on the behavior of some envoys who had refused to return to the country after being recalled by President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu had in early September, recalled serving ambassadors, representing Nigeria outside the country, giving them till October 31, 2023 to return to Nigeria.
“We, the Coalition of APC Political Support Groups for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wish to register the dismay of our members on this show of shame being exhibited by some recalled envoys,” she said.
Dangizo said it was unfortunate that what was supposed to be a routine Diplomatic process had turned into a campaign of calumny against President Tinubu, government officials and Nigeria generally.
She said it was regrettable that some of the Diplomats had not only engaged the country in a media war, but had gone ahead to release documents that flout the Official Secrets Act.
“These documents have found their ways into the media and digital media space.
“This action not only undermines the oath sworn to by the envoys, but it is also against the extant rules and regulations guiding public officials in Nigeria, thereby making them knowingly committing an offense.
“Nigerians from all walks of life, especially appointed public officials by the APC government should remember that we have no other country to call ours than Nigeria,
“As such, we must remain steadfast and support the government instead of derailing it with malicious publications, half-truths and outright misinformation,” she said.
She added that this caution also applied to those who would be appointed as ambassadors in the coming weeks, stressing that they were first representatives of Nigeria’s interests and President Tinubu in their country of residence.
Dangizo said the orchestrated media war by some of the recalled envoys must end to protect the integrity of Tinubu and the country’s sovereignty, adding that Nigeria was bigger than all of us.
“The recalled Nigerian High Commissioner To Zambia, Amb. Ominiyi Eze and his cohorts should therefore desist from the international embarrassment they are causing President Tinubu and the government of Nigeria.
“The general public is hereby advised to pay no heed to what is purely an administrative and procedural matter.
“That has become the basis of misrepresentations in the media intended to undermine the government of President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
“As members of Coalition of APC Support Groups, we stand firmly with the APC -led Government and hereby call for an end to actions tantamount to insubordination and disrespect of our country and symbols,” she said.
Dangizo thanked envoys who had not only written to their host governments, but had complaied with the presidential directive to return to Nigeria and President Tinubu for approving their severance payments.(https:newsatlarge.ng)
