“I send out this solidarity message and support to our party members, across the federation, especially those contesting for positions in the forthcoming State Congresses slated for this weekend, Oct. 16 2021 across the federation.
“I urge members of the party in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to conduct themselves peacefully and in a manner that will bring credence to the party and the country generally.
“Party members and all contestants should see the State Congresses as a family affair and not a do or die affairs, so that it will be a win-win situation for everybody at the end of the day.
“This is critical to ensure unity of the party, so we can face the challenges ahead and the 2023 general election as a united front.Infighting and bickering will take us nowhere,” he said.
Sherif said the APC State Congresses marked yet another milestone achievement of the party under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECP) led by Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.
The former Borno governor said he was happy that the State Congresses was coming at this point in time, because it would further solidify the party the more.
This, he said, was especially as leaders at state level would be elected now that the Senate had given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the go head to transmit election results electronically by amending the Electoral Act.
He expressed optimism that with unity, the APC would emerge victorious in 2023 general election at all levels from the State House of Assembly election to the presidency.
He expressed optimism that  President Muhammadu Buhari’s goodwill and performance in office would enhance the APC chances in 2023 and ensure that it remained the dominant party in the country for a long time to come.
“I particularly thank President Buhari for leading the country and the party in the right direction despite challenges.
“We should ensure that President Buhari’s 12 million bulk votes which he normally brings to the table is protected so that the party remains the party to beat at all times,” he said.
Sherif expressed his loyalty and appreciation to Buhari, as leader of the APC in the country, saying he had built a solid foundation for the APC family.
He particularly thanked APC governors as leaders of the party in their various states for the good work they were doing in their states by delivering democracy dividends to the people.
“By the grace of Allah when elected as the APC next national chairman, I will work harmoniously with the governors.
“I will also work in harmony with senators and members of House of Representatives of the National Assembly and the party leaders in the interest of the party and the country at large under the guidance of President Buhay.
“I also want to use this opportunity to stress the fact that I am desirous of working for the party to strengthen it the more and to give the country the opportunity to prosper further under the leadership of President Buhari,” he said.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
