APC chairmanship: Kwara Gov. assures Saliu Mustapha of support
Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara has assured one of the frontrunners for the National Chairmanship position of the APC, Mallam Saliu Mustapha of his support.
A statement by the Media Office of the aspirant Mr Dapo Okunbanjo on Wednesday in Abuja, said the Kwara governor gave his support at a banquet to celebrate Mustapha after his turbaning as the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate.
The statement quoted the governor as saying that:”we have come a long way since the days of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
“You’ve been very supportive of the administration and we will continue to count on your support, you should also be able to count on our support as you progress in your political career.
“All I can say is God bless you, and we wish you well on behalf of the people and government of Kwara.
“I pray that you continue to contribute to the state in the way you have been doing,” he said.
The governor had earlier noted that Mustapha deserved the title of Turaki of Ilorin based on his antecedents.
He said it was a well deserved position based on his contributions to the welfare of the people of the state.
Sen. Ali Modu Sherif, a former governor of Borno and Sen. George Akume, are also contesting the APC chairmanship position among others.
The APC National Convention is expected to hold before the end of 2023.
Akume is the current Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs and a formal governor of Benue.
