The Centre for Wounded Servicemen and Fallen Heroes Support Fund (CFWS&FHSF), has appealed to world leaders to redirect their focus from the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction toward innovation.
Mr Ezekiel Adi, Executive Secretary of the centre made the appeal in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, advising that world leaders should focus on diplomacy and technological advancement that uplifts humanity.
“The future of our shared world must be built on cooperation, not conflict; on progress, not devastation,” he said.
He expressed sorrow and concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis and rising global instability affecting servicemen and civilians across several regions.
This, he said, included recent reported tensions involving Iran, Lebanon, and the United States of America.
“We are witnessing, with heavy hearts, the devastating consequences of sustained conflict: the painful loss of brave servicemen in active duty.
“The increasing number of wounded servicemen struggling for survival, and the unbearable grief carried by families of fallen heroes,” he said.
He noted that across affected nations, the ripple effects had extended beyond the battlefield, disrupting economies, weakening livelihoods, and deepening global hardship.
Adi further appealed to all parties involved, saying peace must be given a chance and war must cease forthwith, noting that no nation could claim to had achieved any true gain from war.
He said war only brought about irreplaceable loss of lives, destruction of infrastructure, and generational trauma left behind, adding that no victory could ever outweigh the cost of human suffering.
He condoled with families of all fallen heroes across the affected regions and expressed the centre’s solidarity with wounded servicemen who continued to bear the physical and emotional scars of service.
“Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment will never be forgotten, in this moment of global grief, we reaffirm our commitment to humanitarian support and rehabilitation.
“We also commit to advocacy for all affected personnel and their families, you are not alone, we stand with you.Let this be a turning point for humanity, let peace prevail,”Adi said.(newsatlarge.ng)
