Group calls on IGP to investigate killing of its members

The Fulbe Global Development and Rights Initiative (FGDRI) has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to unravel the killings of five members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Mr Salim Umar, FGDRIP President, made the call in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, noting that the killings happened in Enugu, Kogi, Kwara and Plateau States.

“We are compelled to draw the attention of the IGP, the Director of the Department of State Security, the Chief of Defense Staff and the Military Service Chiefs.

“As well as the Commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on the recent wanton and incessant killings of innocent Fulani, their herdsmen and community leaders.

“The rampant and incessant killings all over the country is a matter that should be of great concern to all peace loving and law-abiding citizens,” he said.

According to Umar, some notorious hate purveyors are responsible for the killings which he said was becoming rampant.

He stressed that overwhelming number of Fulanis and the herders were law abiding, respectful, kind and hospitable people pursuing their lawful endeavours as Nigerian citizens.

“As a group, we are not with any deviant, as they do not enjoy our support and indeed will never enjoy our support, except they make a complete and absolute turn,”Umar said.

He called on the security agencies to investigate the destructive inciter who goes by the name “Jaruma Hausa” and find out who her sponsors and financiers were.

The FGDRIP president said this was necessary because her inflammatory incitement if not checked, could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

“We are peace loving and law abiding people.

“There is no justifiable reason whatsoever, for anyone or group to embark on inciteful hate mongering against our people or any other people anywhere be they within or outside of Nigeria.

“Our laws are sufficient to take care of any citizen that engages in criminal incitement of insurrection in any part of the world,” the statement quoted Umar as saying.(https:newsatlarge.ng)
