Breaking:APC Natioy Convention to hold in February 25

Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni and Chairman APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee

Bearing last minute change in plans, the All Progressives Congress (NAN)  National Convention will hold on February 25, 2022 in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Since President Muhammadu Buhari approved February as month for the conduct of the APC national convention in November 2021, there had been pressure on the party’s Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to announce the exact date and venue for the exercise.

While some of the party’s stakeholders including Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu were of the view that the convention should be postponed to a later date to enable the party resolve crisis in some of its state chapters, others insisted that it must hold.

A reliable source at the APC National Secretariat who pleaded anonymity, however, confirmed to newsatlarge on Friday in Abuja that the Buni-led CECPC had agreed to hold the exercise on February 25.

“I can tell you now that our national convention will hold on February 25th here in Abuja, that has been confirmed by the Caretaker Committee,” the source said.

The source explained that the Buni-led CECPC was not against those calling for the convention to be held in February.

According to the source, the committee wanted a situation where the house will not be too divided against itself during the party’s national convention.

It noted that if some of the life threatening crises rocking some of the  party’s state chapters were not amicably resolved before the convention, it would further polarise the party even after the exercise.

“We have to bear in mind that after this national convention, we will be faced with the general elections,” the source said.

Newsatlarge reports that new National Working Committee (NWC) members are expected to be elected at the APC planned national convention to manage the party’s affairs which was presently being managed by the CECPC.(https://newsatlarge.ng).
