Haj. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, a United States based All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain has said that the election of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as the party’s National Chairman will elevate and unite its members more.
She said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja while congratulating the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction on his appointment.
Animashaun-Ajiboye, a one time Lagos State governorship aspirant, is a seasoned politician and activist with a track record of promoting unconventional leadership and community development initiatives.
NAN reports that Yilwatda was elected unopposed during the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
The APC NEC is its second highest decision-making organ after its Cacus, while its National Working Committee (NWC) is its highest administrative organ.
“It is my conviction that his youthfulness, vibrancy, academic integrity, strategic alliances and love for Nigeria will elevate and unite the APC in Nigeria with its members in the USA and globally.
“I wish him well as he selflessly navigate and support President Bola Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria that is globally respected,” Animashaun-Ajiboye said.
She expressed optimism that under Tinubu’s leadership the economic status of Nigerians would be enhanced through good governance, accountability and transparency.
Yilwatda’s nomination as APC national chairman by the Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
His emergence followed the resignation of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, APC’s former National Chairman on June 27 on health grounds, which paved the way for Ali Dalori as Acting Chairman of the party.
NAN reports that before his election, Yilwatda was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
