We’ ll continue to encourage opposition parties contrary to insinuations-APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC)says it will continue to encourage opposition parties to provide credible and viable political alternatives to Nigerians, contrary to insinuations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja while reacting to the communique issued by the PDP at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
He noted that the party voted to devote eight of 15 paragraphs of its communique to casting unbefitting aspersions on the APC.
Morka added that the PDP’s NEC idly alluded to its imagined attempt by APC to foist a one-party state on our nation.
“The APC recognises opposition politics as indispensable to multiparty democracy, our great party will continues to encourage opposition parties to provide credible and viable political alternatives to Nigerians.
“We maintain our long held rejection of the PDP’s attempt to taint our party with its own sordid historic obsession to operate a one-party state in our country,” Morka said.
He added that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration maintained an ironclad commitment to the security and welfare of Nigerians.
This, he said, was the nucleus of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda: from the social investment and student loan programmes to the massive economic and infrastructural transformation underway.
Morka stressed that the administration was working assiduously to improve the quality of life of Nigerians, and build enduring prosperity for our nation.
He said the administration’s unprecedented huge investment in security was already paying off as insurgency, terrorism and other criminal activities had abated significantly.
According to the APC spokesman, all critical economic indicators are shifting in the positive direction with prognosis for the future looking better.
He said it was regrettable that the PDP failed to seize the opportunity of its NEC meeting to reassess itself.
“When you think the PDP has outdone itself in the intensity of its folly, the party manages to put on even more shocking levels of folly in its never ending political tragicomedy.
“The PDP’s communique issued at the end of its 98th NEC meeting of today, April 18, 2024 is nothing short of the hoax wailing of a shambolic party.
“Unsurprisingly, the PDP failed to seize the opportunity of its NEC meeting to conduct a thorough examination of institutional and operational maladies.
“That have crippled and turned it into an unrecognisable shadow of its old self,” Morka said.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
