Supreme Court judgment, an attestation of credibility of general election -Forum

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Professionals Forum has described the Supreme Court judgement affirming President Bola Tinubu’s victory at the Feb. 25 presidential election as an attestation of the credibility of the election.

Dr Isa Yuguda, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the forum said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

“We see it as an attestation of the credibility of the presidential election of Feb. 25, 2023 as well as the mandate freely given by Nigerians to Tinubu as the country’s 16th president.

“For us and for many people, the Supreme Court decision has put to rest the false narrative that the election was characterised by widespread irregularities.

“When it was clear that it was one of the freest and fairest in recent years,” he said.

Yuguda added that by the judgement, the apex court had vindicated Tinubu’s courage to serve Nigerians as true democrats who believed in the power of the ballot and a call to serve.

He urged those who did not vote for Tinubu during the election to accept that he indeed won the majority of valid votes.

“We know that the task ahead is an herculean one that requires focused and dedicated leadership to meet the yearning of Nigerians and are convinced that President Tinubu will live up to expectations.

“He and his able deputy,Vice-President Shittma have the needed capacity that has been proven overtime in their private and public sector careers.

“And we know they both have demonstrated the courage to take tough but wise decisions for the good of all,” Yuguda said.

He called on the opposition parties and their candidates, former Vice- President Atiku Abubaker and former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi to team up with Tinubu to steer the country to the expectations of Nigerians.

He added that at this point of Nigeria’s journey,it was expected that statesmen and women put aside what divided them and form a common front to tackle challenges threatening the socio-economic well-being of all.

Yuguda commended members of the forum’s Legal committee led by Babatunde Ogala for adding their expertise to efforts to ensure Tinubu’s victory at the Supreme Court.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
