Explore your relationship with Tinubu to join APC, group tells Plateau Governor

By Our Reporter

The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, has advised Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau to explore his good relationship with President Bola Tinubu to join the party.

Mr Salleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the forum gave the advise on Monday in Abuja while speaking with newsmen at the party’s national secretariat.

He spoke after submitting a letter inviting Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
to defect to the APC national leadership.

Zazzaga said a copy of the letter which was addressed to APC National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru had been forwarded to the Plateau governor.

He said the call for Mutfwang to join the APC became necessary after reviewing the party’s state in the North Central region.

He noted that the governor had a tremendous working relationship with President Tinubu which he should capitalise on to join the APC where his colleague governors were.

“We wish to notify you of our decision to invite Gov. Mutfwang of Plateau to decamp from his party, the PDP to the APC.

“This is necessary to advance the progress of our party, the APC, as well as our enduring quest to win over people of value and like minds.

“Besides, APC leaders in Plateau are not on ground, they have since recoiled into their shells since the Supreme Court judgement which gave Mutfwang victory.

“It is so bad that APC leaders from Plateau had to go and meet in Lafia, Nasarawa State for a reconciliatory engagement and planning,” the letter which was made available to newsmen said.

Zazzaga while saying that this was an absolute sign that the party was not on ground in Plateau, added that the unity of its members was critical to reposition it for greater successes ahead of 2027 general election.

He further added that the forum’s desire for the party’s success in the North Central and the nation generally, could not be over emphasised, saying its members would continue pushing for the best.

He said the forum in recent time, had several consultations and also met with Pleatue APC and North Central stakeholders to work out modalities on how to get the governor to join the party.

He added that the forum had extended invitation to Gov. Mutfwang and also met with him.

“A formal letter to this effect will also be delivered to him hereafter, and to the Plateau APC, as well as to his ward in Mangu Local Government Area.

“The call for Mutfwang to join the APC has become necessary after reviewing the state of our party in the North Central region.

“As well as the position of Plateau Governor which is vital in the political equation and calculation of the APC in the region and the country by extension,”: he said.

Zazzaga expressed optimism that having Mutfwang as APC member would enable it reclaim Plateau which it lost to the PDP in the 2023 election after being in charge of the state for eight years.

“But above all, Gov. Mutfwang’s developmental efforts, his acceptability in the state, his approach towards boosting peace and security of the state.

“And his progressive personality has been impressive. Our party is a reputable one that requires people of sincerity of purpose, splendid developmental concepts and strategic ideas to be part of us.

“Besides, Gov. Mutfwang is the only governor from the North Central who is not of the APC, and it is necessary to bring him on board,”he said.

The forum’s chairman added that this was critical to bring the governor on the same page with his colleague governors in the North Central.

According to him, with a common ground, governors from the region can work in unity for its interest and development in general and their specific states in particular.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
