Edo poll: Don’t trade your conscience for pecuniary gains, Bello advises electorate

Mr Oyakhilome Bello, a member of the Diaspora Directorate, Edo Governorship Campaign Council has advised the state’s electorate not to trade their conscience for pecuniary gains or for deceptive promises in the forthcoming governorship election.

Bello, also the All Progressives Congress (APC) United States National Youth Leader gave the advise in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

He decried the current state of Edo in terms of development, saying the narrative must be changed, adding that divinity had however, heard the cries of the people of the state for good governance.

This, he said, was especially by bringing Sen. Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa into the Edo governorship race to enthrone good governance and deliver democracy dividends to the people if elected.

Newsatlarge reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the forthcoming Edo governorship election for Sept.21, 2024.

“For nearly eight years, Edo seems to be under siege, characterised by governmental high-handedness, flagrant disregard for the rule of law and separation of powers.

“Divide and rule, deception, financial recklessness, and misappropriation of funds. The good people of Edo, like the biblical Israelites yearn for a deliverer.

“Divinity has hearkened to the cries of the people and has sent a duo whose political emergence is nothing short of the hands of God in the affairs of men.

“He has sent a Moses and Aaron of our time in the person of Okpebholo and Idahosa to deliver our people,” Bello said.

He added that the duo were commissioned on a mission to redeem the state and bring it to an enviable height.

According to him, Okpebholo and Idahosa are on a redemptive quest to emancipate Edo people from bad governance and administrative malfeasance.

Bello described the duo as transformative leaders on an assignment to transform Edo’s landscape and create an inclusive government for accelerated growth and development.

This, he said, they would do by galvanising and utilising the state’s resources and creating opportunities for all to aspire and achieve their dreams.

“With an articulated blueprint, they are positioned to put Edo on the world stage. Come September 21st, 2024, let’s troop out en masse and through the ballot, make this divine mandate a reality.

“Edo people are enjoined not to trade their conscience for pecuniary gains or for deceptive promises.Let’s all cast our votes for the deliverer of our time

“So that our joy can be complete where we shall sing the redemption songs of freedom, progress, growth, development and one love,” Bello said.

He added that without doubt, Okpebholo and his running mate, Idahosa, had shown what pragmatic leadership meant.

He said even as serving legislators, they had completed many feasible projects with some ongoing in their various constituencies that even the blind could attest to.

“Okpebholo stated clearly that if elected as Edo next governor, his government would base governance on a five point agenda.

“This include: economic growth, environmental sustainability, good governance and security, agricultural development and academic excellence.

“When these five points are thoroughly followed and actualised, the land of Edo would become the giant of Nigeria and the envy of Africa,” Bello assured.

He noted that Edo had so many untapped potentials which could be effectively harnessed by Okpebholo in the interest of the people of the state if elected as its next governor.

“Dear beloved people of Edo, we have another opportunity to choose leaders who we can entrust our futures in their hands.

“And the only right people for this are Okpebholo and Idahosa based on their innovative ideas, and beautiful insights with regards to governance,” the APC US National Youth Leader said.

He expressed confidence that if elected as Edo next governor, Okpebholo and his running mate would deliver beyond expectations.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
