APC requires team work to capture Abia- Chieftain
Agency report
Mr Offor Okorie, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia, says the party requires a team work by all stakeholders to capture the state in the 2023 general election.
Okorie, also the state APC publicity secretary said this at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said that the support of critical stakeholders like former Minister Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah and Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu was needed for the party’s victory in the election.
He urged the leadership of the party to reach out to the two party Chieftains toward marshaling out strategies for the party’s victory in the poll.
“The duo have the structures and men to deliver the state to the APC in the Feb. 25 and March 11 elections,” he said.
Okorie said that in spite of the recent Supreme Court judgment which declared Mr Ikechi Emenike as the APC governorship candidate, Ogah was ready to work for the party`s victory in the election.
He said that the state APC crisis started during the tenure of Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker and Extra-ordinarily Convention Committee, following some irregularities at its primaries.
Okorie added that there was need for the party to do the needful, by ensuring that the two leaders were accorded their rightful positions in the scheme of things.
“Abia APC has what it takes to upturn the political equation in the state for APC.
“But the party will have to give honour to these two leaders, because they have the structure and the people to deliver,” Okorie stated.
He dismissed insinuations that Ogah was dragging the party backwards and was not willing to work for its governorship candidate, following the Supreme Court judgement.
“Ogah is not dragging the APC backwards in Abia, rather he is doing everything possible to ensure that the party grows in the state, he is a peaceful and honest man who has accepted in good faith, the outcome of the Supreme Court judgement.
“Although many people in Abia were disappointed by the apex court decision, Ogah is ready to work for the success of the party in the state
“Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court gave the true position of the APC primary election in Abia.
“Even at the Supreme Court judgement, Ogah never said he would not support APC candidates in the state, he is ready to work with every APC candidate,” he said.
He added that the leadership of the party in Abia was concerned about ensuring victory at the poll come Feb. 25.
He said that the APC was set to capture the state in the general election. (https://newsatlarge.ng)
