Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, a frontline national chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted supporting the candidacy of Sen. George Akume, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs
as reported in the media.
Dr Cairo Ojougboh, Deputy Campaign Director, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff Campaign Organisation in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said the report is fake and a blatant lie.
He added that Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff who had been blazing the train in his campaigns, was still consulting despite developments in the party.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report that the Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff Campaign Organisation has joined forces with Malam Isa Yuguda Support Organisation to support the candidacy of Sen. George Akume as APC National Chairman.
“We which to disassociate ourselves from the report issued by Chief Ray Morphy, Co-ordinator South of the George Akume Campaign Organisation.
“The report is fake and should not be regarded, it is nothing but a figment of the imagination of those who planted it.
“We categorically state that the report which claimed that the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff Campaign Organisation is working to ensure that George Akume emerged as APC’s next national chairman at its forthcoming National Convention is a blatant lie from the pit of hell,” he said.
Ojougboh added that the report was ridiculous and completely unfounded, saying that it was from politicians who wanted to scam the APC.
He added that Sheriff, a former two term governor of Borno enjoys almost 70 per cent support from APC grassroot members, saying that:” our consultations is continuing despite developments in the party”.
He, therefore, charged the general public and the party’s members to disregard the report.
