APC Campaign Council says Shettima has no link with Boko Haram as speculated
Agency report
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC)has said that Sen. Kashim Shettima, the party’s 2023 Vice-Presidential candidate has no links with the Boko Haram sect as being speculated.
Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Special Media Projects and New Media of the council said this in a statement in Abuja, describing Shettima as a refined, decent and godly man.
Fani-Kayode in the statement, was reacting to comments made by Dino Melaye, spokesman of Peoples Democratic (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council when he called Shettima a Boko Haram terrorists’ commander.
Melaye had alleged that Shettima was planning to establish an office for the Boko Haram terrorists at the presidential villa if he and Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate won the 2023 presidential election.
Fani-Kayode in his reaction, said Shettima is a refined, decent and godly man who only wanted to help his country and ensure that her citizens moved forward.
He said the allegation against Shettima by Melaye had been investigated over and over again with no incriminating evidence found against the APC vice- presidential candidate.
According to Fani-Kayode, the allegation against Shettima is absurd and designed to terrify the people and make them feel that APC is a party of terrorists.
He said it was also designed to make it look like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate is a man that condone terrorism.
Fani-Kayode while noting that Malaye’s statement was a direct attack on Shettima, said the allegation had no bases and should be disregarded.
“This allegation has been investigated over and over again and there have been no evidence adduced to suggest that it is true, and actually, it is not true.
“Shettima is a refined, decent and godly man, who simply wants to help his nation and ensure we move forward as a people.
“If you look at his record in Borno as a governor, before he went to serve as Senator, you will see what he did.
“If you look at his successor in office: Gov. Babagana Zulum, he too is doing a great job in Borno, that is not a legacy of a terrorist.
“What we have in Borno is a legacy of a great leader; that is what Shettima stands for,” Fani-Kayode stressed.
He maintained that Shettima was 100 times a better man, adding that this would be proved at the poll in 2023.
