Africa’s challenges:Over 400 participants to discuss ways out in Ghana
Africans Rising, a PAN African Movement, says over 400 physical and 1,000 virtual participants are expected to attend the All African Movement Assembly (AAMA) in Ghana to discuss issues affecting the African continent.
Ms Ann Lorna, Communications and Media Lead, Africans Rising, said this in an interview with newsmen.
She said the meeting scheduled for Aug. 29 and Aug. 31, would hold in Accra, Ghana to discuss challenges confronting the continent and proffer possible solutions.
She added there was a need for African leaders to dialogue on ways of addressing issues facing the continent to make it a better place for all.
According to Lorna, the meeting has become expedient considering the recent protests in Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda, calling for better living conditions and dignity for Africans, particularly the youths.
She noted that AAMA’s theme for the meeting, “Towards Pan-African Solidarity: United We Stand, Divided We Fall”, was apt and sought to achieve unity among nations.
She expressed optimism that the AAMA 2024 would provide a critical platform for assessing our collective mandate as Africans, especially in our quest for unity, justice, peace, and dignity.
The AAMA 2024 will be the largest gathering of African movements, activists, and human rights defenders demanding Africa’s unity, peace and dignity.
Those expected to speak at the event include, Kumi Naidoo, Africans Rising Ambassador and Human Rights Advocate; Samia Nkrumah, President, Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Center (KNAC), and Pierre-Christophe Gam, Polymath artist.
“As Africa faces a rapidly shrinking civic space, with increasing crackdowns on dissent, harassment, abductions, and even killings of activists, hence, the need for collective dialogue.
“And a unified action has never been more urgent. AAMA 2024 will address these pressing issues.”Lorna assured.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
