The Women’s Leadership Network (WLN)has said that the passage of Gender Inclusive Bill into law, will ensure increased women’s participation in the country’s parliament.

Dr Fauziya Buhari-Addo National Coordinator of the network said this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

She said the network under the leadership of Prof. Martina Yilwatda, wife of All Progressives Congress (APC)National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda would continue to support President Bola Tinubu to deliver on his Renewed Hope Agenda.

She added that the gender inclusive bill if passed into law, would be of benefit to Nigerians generally as it would give more voice to women as better managers of human and material resources.

She said the group was formed to ensure women inclusiveness in government and to bring women together under one platform irrespective of party affiliations.

Buhari-Addo added that the idea was to have women work in unity to enthrone a better society in the interest of all.

She added that the group was currently working to ensure that the gender inclusive bill was passed into law.

“During the public hearing conducted by the National Assembly, this group was one of the many groups that joined other women to make a statement on reserved seats for women.

“Especially to ensure that the struggle for 36 seats in the Senate and House of Representative, and three seats for women in each State House of Assemblies comes to fruition.

“The good news is that this has gotten very massive support.

“We are appealing to Yilwatda who is also sensitive to gender issues to please step in and support this bill as national chairman of the greatest party, so this bill will come to fruition,” she said.

According to her, the APC and Nigeria generally will be the greatest beneficiary if the bill is passed into law.

Also speaking, Mrs Deborah Oriaku, a coordinator of the group, said it was supporting the APC national chairman and his wife because they wanted him to be different from the party’s previous chairmen.

She said the APC national chairman was coming with different perspectives and ideas that would change the party’s face.

She assured that the APC national chairman would deliver Tinubu in 2027, but needed the support of all party faithful to achieve the feat.

“I know him personally, he is a man of his word, he is a go-getter and he will deliver 2027, that I can guarantee you,” Oriaku stressed.

She appreciated President Tinubu and Sen. Godswill Akpabio for personally attending the burial of the mother of APC national Chairman, Madam Lydia Yilwatda.

She described the deceased who died at the age of 83, as a wonderful and amazing woman with great foresight.

“She died at a time that God wanted to call her home, and all we needed to do, was to give her a befitting burial, which had been successfully done.

“We pray God to console the family and also to receive her soul in heaven,” she said.

She said the group was formed to give support not only to the APC national chairman, but to his wife and women generally.

She assured that the group would stand by the APC chairman’s wife, to ensure her husband delivered on his mandate.

She also expressed gratitude to the over 100 women that mobilised to attend the burial, in Jos, Plateau.

“We take this opportunity not only to thank the women who stood with us, but also men, especially President Tinubu, Sen. Akpabio, the Senate President and other dignitaries.

“It was a great honour for the president, the Senate President, Governors, Ministers and other dignitaries to show solidarity with the family.

“It is something we have not seen in a long time, we appreciate and thank you all,”she said.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
