The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has appointed Nigerian model, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Faith Morey as its newest ambassador.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Mr Oluyemisi Adeaga, National President of the NRCS, described the occasion as a “strategic partnership to amplify compassion and strengthen resilience”.
Adeaga said the partnership would support the society’s efforts to combat disasters, improve health and nutrition, and build resilience across communities.
He highlighted the broad scope of the Society’s interventions throughout the country.
“We are constantly in the North-East addressing conflict-related crises.
Across Nigeria, wherever there is flooding or conflict, the Red Cross is present.
“We also carry out health interventions, especially in response to pox and other diseases, while restoring family links and cooperating discreetly with partners,” he said.
Adeaga emphasised that partnerships and volunteerism remained vital to sustaining humanitarian work.
“Where there are weaknesses, others may have strengths.By combining efforts, we achieve more than we could alone.
“That’s why today’s investiture is important, it brings in individuals whose values and strengths are needed to meet growing humanitarian challenges”.
He noted that the society continued to face rising demands due to conflicts, floods, and climate-related crises, which required increased funding and stronger infrastructure.
According to him, ambassadors like Morey will help mobilise support and bridge operational gaps.
Accepting the role, Morey expressed gratitude and described the appointment as a call to greater service.
“This is not a recognition; it is a pledge to carry forward a legacy of compassion that had transcended borders for more than a century,” she said.
Drawing on her work with the Okachi Charity Foundation, Morey pledged to use her platform to amplify the Red Cross mission.
“My vision as ambassador is to bring both voice and visibility to this mission. Humanity is not an abstract concept; it is a daily choice.
“I pledge to support not just causes that make headlines, but also the quiet, unseen struggles of people whose names the world may never know”.
She reaffirmed her commitment to the universal mission of the Red Cross, stressing that every human life matters, especially in times of crisis.
“In moments of disaster or conflict, we must choose compassion over indifference, and I will uphold that choice,” she said.(https://newsatlarge.ng)
